Paco Paco

Francisco Ropero Gomez was born in Ourense (Galicia) on May 27th 1945, as son to a father from Andalucia and a mother from Galicia. When 18, he moved to France to work and explore the world. At age 21, he returned to Malaga, where his family now lived. Young Francisco always had been attracted to music and was part of groups like Los Kramp's, where he played drums, later followed by bands like Big Sound, Los Iberos, Eduardo y Los Windys and 7 Nosotras y Ellos. While serving in military, he met his future wife, the Belgian Linda Verlackt, who also joined 7 Nosotras y Ellos on vocals. After they both left the group, they moved to Amberes, Belgium and started their own bar, called La Taberna Flamenca, where Paco Paco performed every night. It was here in this bar, where the song Taka Takata was born, which would convert itself into his first single and a massive European hit. He won various awards in a bunch of European countries and the song was covered innumerable times. He kept on releasing albums like A Rumba Da Gaita, America (1981) and Paco Paco en Galicia (1985).
