Antoñita Peñuela

Born Antonia Peñuela Castañeda in Lorca, Murcia, on the 19th april 1947, and commonly known as Antoñita Peñuela. After recording her first tune in 1967, she continued with popular coplas, rumbas and pasodobles into the seventies, enjoying local hits like La Espabilá, La Agradecida, A la Vera, Vera, Vaya un Lío, Como está Mandao, Sólo Quiero Cantar, Bebí de Tus Labios, Perla Preciosa, Cautiva, Con las Manos Vacías, Vestido Blanco y Negro and Fandangos de la Peñuela. One week after giving birth to her second child, she tragically died in a car accident near Madrid on June 5th 1975, only 28 years old. She was buried in Torrente, Valencia, where she lived with her family.
